Every Forward course exists in three channels: see it, hear it, read it. You choose the route that works for you, and the standard you are held to does not move.
Forward is designed to the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2020 and Uganda's inclusive-education commitments, and to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA.

A supported access route to every answer on this site. Speak your question and LEO answers aloud, with a live transcript on screen for deaf and hard of hearing visitors. Full keyboard operation, space to talk and Escape to stop, states announced to screen readers, and one press to switch to typing if you prefer. No microphone? The written conversation gives exactly the same answers.

Four groups, each with the provisions that already exist or are being built into the founding intake. Open a section to read them; every one is a thing we do, not a thing we hope to do.
How accommodations work
You tell us once. The system remembers.
Four steps between saying what you need and never having to say it again.
Step 1: Tell us
At application, or at any point after it. There is no deadline and no penalty for telling us late, including in your final year.
Step 2: Meet the Disability Support Office
One conversation about how you study and what has worked before. We propose the provisions; you decide what you want on the record.
Step 3: Recorded once
Your accommodations are written into your student record a single time. No tutor, invigilator or module leader can ask you to make the case again.
Step 4: Applied automatically
From then on the platform does it for you: extra time appears in your exams, captions are already on, and alternate formats are ready before the module opens.
- You should not have to ask twice. If a provision fails to appear, that is our fault to fix, not yours to re-argue.
- You will not be asked to prove yourself repeatedly. One record, one conversation, applied for the length of your studies.
- We work with students who have never had a diagnosis because their school never offered one. Support is not conditional on expensive paperwork.
- Your record is confidential. Staff see the provisions they must deliver, not your medical history.

Enter the Academy- An assistive-device loan pool: screen readers, magnifiers, switch devices, recorders and adapted keyboards, lent for the length of your studies at no cost.
- Low-bandwidth and audio-only study modes for learners outside good coverage, including downloadable audio modules and text-only pages under 100 kilobytes.
The platform itself
Amagezi has to pass the same test.
A university cannot teach accessibly on a platform that excludes people. This is the standard Amagezi is held to.
- Target standard: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA, across Amagezi and this website.
- Tested with screen readers rather than only with automated tools: NVDA and Narrator on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android.
- Keyboard complete. Every task can be finished with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring and a skip link on every page.
- Captions and transcripts are standard on recorded and live content, not an option you have to find.
- Reduced-motion, high-contrast and text-spacing preferences are honoured from your operating system.
Where we fall short, we publish it and we fix it. The accessibility statement lists the gaps we know about, with dates, and there is a direct channel to report a barrier we have not found yet. Read the accessibility statement and report a barrier.
