For employers

Take a student for a year, not a fortnight.

Cooperative education at Forward is twelve paid months inside a real organisation. You get someone who has already been assessed against the capability they will use, and one named academic who is accountable for them.

What you get

Four commitments we will be held to.

Every one of these is checkable. If we break one, say so in writing and we publish the correction.

A student who has already been assessed

Every student arrives with a capability record showing what they have demonstrated, not a grade average. You know before day one what they can do unsupervised.

Twelve months, not twelve weeks

Cooperative education at Forward is a full paid year. Long enough for a placement student to become genuinely useful rather than a summer visitor.

A named academic who answers you

Each placement has a programme mentor who is accountable for the student and reachable by you within two working days.

No placement fee

Forward does not charge employers to host a placement. You pay the student, we handle the academic side.

What we ask

Four things in return.

We would rather lose a partner at this stage than place a student into unpaid observation.

  • Pay the student a real wage. We publish the pay range you give us.
  • Give the student defined work with a supervisor, not observation shadowing.
  • Complete two short capability reviews across the year, at month four and month eleven.
  • Tell us early if the placement is not working, so we can fix it rather than discover it.

Roles already reviewed and confirmed appear on the cooperative education role board. Read how the placement year is structured on Cooperative Education.

Submit a role

Tell us about the work.

Nothing publishes automatically. A member of staff confirms the work, the supervision and the wage with you before the role appears on the public board.

City and country, for example Kampala, Uganda.

Published as given. Leave blank if you need to confirm it internally first.

What the student will actually do, who supervises them, and what success looks like. At least 40 characters. 0 so far.

Questions

Employer questions, answered plainly.

Are there students available right now?
Not yet. Forward's first cooperative education cohort reaches placement after its foundation stage, so the board opens with partner roles before students are on it. We publish real availability rather than an implied pipeline.
What happens after I submit a role?
It arrives in the placements queue for review. A member of staff contacts you to confirm the work, the supervision and the wage before the role appears publicly. Nothing publishes automatically.
Can we host more than one student?
Yes. Tell us the number of places on the form and we will match cohort by cohort rather than all at once.
Do you take employers outside Uganda?
Yes, including remote roles. International placements are subject to the student's right to work, which we check before matching.
