Introduction
This is a comparison of categories, not named competitors. Forward is a founding-intake institution: one cohort in, still building the campus and still proving the model against the claims it makes. The table below compares Forward against the general shape of traditional universities and online-only providers, giving each category credit for its genuine strengths rather than caricaturing them.

Online-only providers can be cheaper per course and let you sample a subject with zero commitment, which suits some learners better than a full degree.
Breadth of catalogue
Large traditional and online institutions simply offer more subjects than a small, deliberately focused founding university can right now.
