Are Forward AI Academy courses accredited?

No. Academy courses are open, short and non-degree, and their certificates are Forward's own. They are not NCHE qualifications and are not presented as credit toward one.

What happens if a programme is not approved in time?

The accreditation page and the fee commitments state what Forward owes an applicant if an intake is delayed or a programme does not proceed, in writing, before you apply.

Most institutions publish a badge. Forward publishes the stage each submission has actually reached, and who governs it.

Read this before anything else

Forward University is a pre-launch institution. It has no graduates, no alumni outcomes and no ranking position, and this site publishes none. What it publishes instead is the regulatory framework it is being built against, the stage each submission has reached, and the date each claim was last checked.

National Council for Higher Education

NCHE

Remit. Licenses universities in Uganda and accredits academic programmes, sets minimum staffing and curriculum standards, and equates foreign qualifications.

Forward's position. Forward University's degree programmes and the Higher Education Certificate are developed against the NCHE guidelines and are submitted for accreditation in waves. A programme page states the wave it sits in. No programme is described as accredited on this site until the accreditation is granted and dated here.

Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board

Framework published

Remit. Assesses and certifies vocational and technical qualifications against national occupational standards.

Forward's position. Forward College programmes are developed for delivery under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act, No. 3 of 2025, with external assessment and certification by UVTAB. Forward College seeks recognition as a qualifying provider under section 76(2) of the Act.

TVET Council

In process

Remit. Approves vocational curricula under the TVET Act.

Forward's position. Curriculum approval for Forward College programmes rests with the TVET Council. Approval status is published per programme as it is granted.

Uganda National Examinations Board

Remit. Issues and verifies the school qualifications used for entry.

Forward's position. Forward verifies UACE, UCE and equivalent results with UNEB during admissions. Charges levied by UNEB for verification are paid to UNEB directly and are not Forward fees.

Forward AI Academy

Remit. Open, non-degree professional short courses and micro-credentials.

Forward's position. Academy courses are not NCHE-accredited academic awards and do not by themselves confer a certificate, diploma or degree. They stack toward entry to Forward University and Forward College through recognition of prior learning where a programme's published criteria allow it.

Quality assurance

What holds the standard up while accreditation runs

Accreditation is a floor, not a promise. These are the rules Forward runs on top of it.

Employment thesis, reviewed on a date

Every programme publishes the roles and employer types it is designed to produce, and the date its thesis is next reviewed. If the thesis stops holding, the programme is reviewed and, where necessary, retired.

Mastery, not averaging

A capability is either demonstrated or it is not. Marks are not averaged across unrelated evidence to manufacture a pass.

Spoken defence in every assessment

A human assessor confirms that the person who submitted the work can explain and defend it.

Curriculum review cycle

At least every three years, or upon revision of the relevant NCHE or UVTAB guidelines, whichever comes first.

Published refusal list

Forward publishes what it will not teach and why, so that scope is a stated choice rather than a silent gap.

Named accountability

Each institutional promise on this site names the office that owns it and the response target it is held to.
