Mentor network

One hour a month with someone who does the work.

Forward has not graduated a cohort, so there are no alumni mentors yet. The founding network is working professionals in the sectors our programmes point at, reviewed by the Registrar's office before they meet a single student.

The live count

What the network actually holds today.

This number comes from the register, not from marketing. If it reads zero, the network is still being built.

Reading the mentor register…

The shape of it

Bounded, capability led, never a substitute for staff.

One hour a month, for one term

Mentoring at Forward is bounded on purpose. One conversation a month for six months, then you decide whether to continue. No open ended obligation.

Capability coaching, not lecturing

Mentors work against the twelve capabilities every graduate carries. You talk about how work actually happens in your field, not about course content.

Never a substitute for staff

Mentors do not mark work, decide progression or handle complaints. Assessment stays with Forward evaluators, and every mark is decided by a person on staff.

Checked before publication

Every mentor is reviewed by the Registrar's office before appearing anywhere on this site. Your name is published only if you ask us to publish it.

Mentoring sits beside, not instead of, the twelve month paid placement described on Cooperative Education, and the capabilities on What Every Graduate Carries.

Take part

Request a mentor, or offer to be one.

Both routes are reviewed by a person. Nothing is matched automatically and no profile is published without consent.

A programme name or code, if you have one in mind.

Be specific: the decision you are facing, the work you want to understand, the skill you are stuck on. At least 40 characters. 0 so far.

Capabilities you want coaching on (optional)

Questions

Mentoring questions, answered plainly.

How many mentors does Forward have right now?
The number shown on this page is the live count of approved mentors, and it starts at zero. Forward will not pad the network with placeholder profiles or people who have not agreed to serve.
Can I be matched with a Forward alumnus?
Not yet. Forward has not graduated a cohort, so there are no alumni. The founding network is made up of working professionals in the sectors our programmes point at. Alumni mentors join as cohorts complete.
Who can request a mentor?
Anyone at any stage from considering Forward to enrolled study, including Forward College and AI Academy learners. Requests are matched by sector, capability and format, and you are told plainly if no suitable mentor is available yet.
What happens to my request if there is no match?
It is waitlisted, not silently dropped. You are told the sector you asked for has no approved mentor, and you keep your place in the queue for that sector.
Is mentoring paid?
Mentors volunteer. Forward does not charge students for mentoring, and does not pay mentors. Paid work with students happens through the twelve month cooperative education placement instead.
Do mentors see my academic record?
No. A mentor sees the goals and capability areas you write in your request. Marks, feedback and assessment records stay inside the university.
